Gujarat remains the top destination for domestic and international tourists, and the numbers are proof of it. The state recently attracted 61.70 lakh visitors to 16 iconic sites during the 20-day Diwali holiday (October 26 to November 15, 2024). The most famous tourist destination in the state is the Dwarka temple, which attracted 13 lakh devotees! Ahmedabad’s Kankaria Lake also recorded 5.50 lakh tourists, reflecting Gujarat’s growing appeal.
Statue of Unity
The 182 meter tall Statue of Unity in Kevadiya is the world’s tallest statue, which honors the Iron Man of India, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. Surrounded by the breathtaking Vindhyachal and Satpura ranges, the statue offers panoramic views from its observation deck. Visitors can explore the accompanying museum, light-and-sound show, and Valley of Flowers, making it a center for cultural and ecological experiences.
Dwaraka Temple
Dwarkadhish Temple in Dwarka, also known as Jagat Mandir, is a sacred temple dedicated to Lord Krishna. It is believed that Lord Krishna arrived here from Braj in Uttar Pradesh to build this city. The temple was founded by his grandson. Its five-storey architecture and intricate carvings attract pilgrims and history lovers alike to this ancient Char Dham destination.
Modhera Sun Temple
The Sun Temple at Modhera is an architectural marvel dedicated to the Sun God. Built in the 11th century, this temple is famous for its intricate carvings and Surya Kund, a terraced tank surrounded by small temples, making it a historical and spiritual gem.
Pavagadh Temple
Situated atop the Pavagadh Hills, the Maa Kali Temple is an iconic pilgrimage site and is part of the Champaner-Pavagarh Archaeological Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. To reach the temple at the summit, visitors can either walk about 5 kilometers through the forest or take a cable car from the midpoint, which is the farthest point accessible by road.

Smritivan Memorial
The Smritivan Earthquake Memorial in Bhuj honors the resilience of the people affected by the 2001 Gujarat earthquake. Spread over 470 acres, it comprises gardens, interactive exhibitions and panoramic hill views overlooking the Bhuj city. The monument also includes the world’s largest Miyawaki Forest, containing more than 3 million plants.
Somnath Temple
