10 Sweet Shops In Chennai You Must Try:
1. Gorgeous Dessert:
This shop started a few decades ago in the Adyar area of South Chennai and then became a chain of sweet shops across the city. They offer one of the largest sweet menus with sweets from across India. We favor their Mysore Pak (Cashew Mysore Pak is a house speciality), which has the right texture, and their traditional South Indian-style laddus with a hint of camphor.
Where: Gandhi Nagar, Adyar
2. Shri Krishna Sweets:
The journey of Krishna Sweets started a few decades ago in Coimbatore but has now become synonymous with Chennai. It is their signature Mysorepa (a melt-in-the-mouth version of Mysore Pak) that has earned it a loyal following of fans across India. But be sure to check out other favorites like coconut laddu too.
Where: Venkatnarayan Road, T Nagar
3. Kakra Ramprasad
If you ask us to choose our favorite almond milk in Chennai, it would be the sinful Kakra version. When sweet shops opened in the city’s bustling Mint Street in the 1950s, Kakra Jalebi became an instant favourite. We would recommend you to visit their more accessible Kilpauk outlet where you can taste their signature Kesar Baati with spongy texture and attractive saffron notes.
Where: Ormes Road, Kilpauk
4. Mr. Sweets:
If you are like me and you can make some Kaju Katli in less time, then Shree Sweets should be on your list. Their Kesar Kaju Katli with its rich saffron flavor is one of the best in the city. Sri is also popular with its almond milk and milk sweets like delicious rasmalai.

This simple sweet shop with eighty years of heritage in the busy Jam Market area of Triplicane sells one of the most delicious halwa in Chennai. Regulars also swear by their gulab jamun and gajar ka halwa.
