The UK branch of international work is being run by University College London Hospitals (UCLH) and University College London (UCL), where around 40 people have received treatment so far.
Overall, the study aims to recruit 800 people from around the world.
In the study, patients suffering from the three main types of bile duct cancer – intrahepatic, perihilar, or distal cholangiocarcinoma – or gallbladder cancer may be eligible to participate in the SAFIR-ABC10 trial. Their tumors will be genetically profiled and then offered one or more of seven different anti-cancer therapies matched to their tumors.
