As part of the year-end Taste Atlas Awards 2024-25, the food guide has shared a list of the most coveted dessert spots around the world. Here are the Indians who were depicted on it.

The Taste Atlas Awards 2024-25 included several awards for Indian food and Indian restaurants. The country’s offerings topped lists of best cuisines, best food regions, best food cities and many more by category. As part of its year-end rankings, the food and travel guide highlights iconic food-related establishments around the world. One of the lists provides details about the best places in the world for desserts, according to Taste Atlas’ rankings. We have compiled a list of Indian locations that were involved. Take a look at them below (overall ranks are indicated in brackets):

According to Taste Atlas, here are the “most famous dessert places” in India for 2024:

  • Kayani Bakery, Pune (18th)

This bakery was established in 1955. Its mawa cake is especially famous.

  • KC Das, Kolkata (24th)

This heritage establishment dates back to 1866. It is famous for various classic Bengali sweets. Taste Atlas takes special care of its Rasgullas.

  • Fluris, Kolkata (25th)

For many people, the name Flurries is synonymous with the delicious dish called rum balls. This establishment was established in 1927.

  • Karachi Bakery, Hyderabad (28th)

Known for its signature fruit biscuits, this iconic bakery was established in 1953.

  • Balram Malik and Radharaman Malik Sweets, Kolkata (35th)

This is another famous heritage sweet shop of Kolkata. Its story started in 1885. Taste Atlas says its messaging is in high demand.

  • K Rustam & Company, Mumbai (46th)

This popular dessert spot near Marine Drive in Mumbai sells ice cream sandwiches in multiple flavours. It was established in 1953.

  • Kuremal Mohanlal Kulfiwale, New Delhi (64th)

This iconic kulfi destination was established in 1906.

  • Prakash Kulfi, Lucknow (75th)

According to the guide, this establishment, established in 1956, is famous for its Kulfi Faluda.

  • Chitale Bandhu Mithaiwale, Pune (83rd)

Established in 1950, this historical landmark in Pune is known for its various Maharashtrian cuisines including sweets and snacks.

  • Old Famous Jalebi Wala, New Delhi (91st)

Known as one of the most iconic places for Jalebi, this heritage shop was started in 1884.

Note that the above rankings were announced in December 2024. Taste Atlas also shared a list of iconic ice cream establishments around the world. It includes five Indian names. The guide has mentioned one thing that is especially popular in each place. Take a look at them below:

  • Pabba, Mangaluru (7th), established in 1975

Famous for: Gadbad Ice Cream

  • Of. Rustam & Company, Mumbai (24th), established in 1953

Famous for: Mango Ice Cream Sandwich

  • Natural Ice Cream, Mumbai (38th), established in 1984

Famous for: Tender Coconut Ice Cream

  • Corner House, Bengaluru (60th), established in 1982

Famous for: Death by Chocolate Ice Cream

  • Apsara Ice Cream, Mumbai (91), established in 1971

Famous for: Guava Ice Cream

Not only this. Taste Atlas also released a list of the 100 most famous restaurants in the world. These also included the names of seven Indian symbols. Click here to read more.
