Travel is always about looking beyond the ordinary, experiencing the untouched and exploring the unknown. With the digitalization of almost everything, new travel trends Have been emerging. According to the luxury travel report from Zicaso, one of the most high-end travel-planning companies, slower and shorter trips are now stretching to an average duration of about two weeks for luxury travelers – giving birth to another travel trend. Giving – ‘Staying away for a long time’.
According to Skift Research’s 2025 Travel Outlook report, travel companies are expecting a 24% increase in the number of trips people plan for the coming year compared to 2024. And now, these longer leisure trips have become the most popular type of travel option – instead of those weekend vacations and road trips. The report envisions 2025 as “the year of the long holidays.”
Speaking to the BBC, Julia Carter, founder of luxury travel company Craft Travel, said: “Travelers are increasingly flocking to tourist destinations or taking pictures at prestigious hotels just to say they’ve been there. Instead, they’re now “Increasingly recognizing this.” When it comes to travel, a destination really comes alive when you slow things down.”
The same Skift report noted that the most respondents planning to travel this way were in India at 92%, followed by China at 84%. Germany comes next in the list of this travel trend, followed by America and Britain.
And for travel in general, the top global destinations on American travelers’ bucket lists this year include England, Japan, Paris, Italy and Mexico. UK residents are expected to visit Dubai, Paris, Italy, Spain and the US.
Meanwhile, another travel trend that is gaining momentum is Jomo – which means – the joy of getting away. It has offered an alternative travel approach that is gaining popularity with each passing day.
For those unaware, JOMO is about intentionally stepping back and disconnecting while embracing the freedom that comes with saying “no” to constant activity. In recent times, JOMO trips have become a popular travel trend, especially for those who want to refresh and enjoy quiet, meaningful moments.
