Times Now Digital, about the relationship between tight jeans and testes cancer, Dr. Sanjay Prakash J. spoke to Advisor Microsurgical Androologist and Urologist, Asian Institute of Nephrology and Urology, Chennai.
Testes cancer is relatively rare, accounting for about 1% of all cancers in men, but it is the most common cancer in men in the age group of 15–35. Risk factors include unspecified testicles, a family history of the disease, and some genetic conditions. However, any scientific evidence directly connects jeans to testicular cancer.
Experts and several studies have said that wearing tight clothes, including jeans, does not increase the risk of developing cancer. The testis is outside the body for one reason. There is a temperature difference of 2-40c which is required for sperm production.
While cancer is baseless, tight jeans can contribute to other health issues. Prolonged wear of constructed clothing can increase the risk of fungal infection, chafing and sperm production.
In fact, tight jeans can increase the scrotum temperature, which can temporarily affect sperm quality. A survey conducted in the UK included 2,000 men wearing tight jeans, stating that many men felt waistband, urinary issues and testes torso. He also saw that prolonged wear can reduce urinary tract infections, fungal back infections and sperm properties.
The idea that tight jeans can increase the chances of cancer, testes stems from widespread concerns about health. While awareness about testes health is important, it is important to separate the fact from myth. Regular self-examination and counseling with the healthcare provider are the best ways to detect quick abnormalities.
Although it is important to wear clothes that allow for comfort and proper circulation, it is claimed that tight jeans or hot baths/sauna causes testes cancer is not supported by scientific evidence. Fashion-conscious men can breathe a sigh of relief-but with a reminder to remain informed and prioritize their health. The bottom line is to feel free to embrace fashion, but prioritize comfort and awareness when it comes to your health.
