Early warning signal of head and neck cancer
Many early symptoms of head and neck cancer are often wrong for general health issues, ignoring them. But if any of these signs continue for more than two weeks, then it is time to see a doctor:
1. Non-healing mouth wound or ulcer
A throat that is not good, especially if it bleed or hurts, it can indicate oral cancer,
2. Abnormal lumps
A painless lump in the neck, jaw or throat can be a swollen lymph node or tumor. If it does not go away, it requires a medical evaluation.
3. Difficulty swallowing or chewing
It seems that something is stuck in your throat or struggling to swallow may be a sign of oesophagal or throat cancer,
4. The voice changes
Urusnes or change in your voice lasting more than two weeks may indicate cancer.
5. Unexplained bleeding
Frequent bleeding from the mouth or nose should not be ignored, especially if there is no clear reason.
6. Constant sore throat
A sore throat that does not improve with treatment, especially if swallowing or speaking is painful, perhaps a warning indication.
7. Ear pain or hearing loss
Chronic ear pain or hearing issues can sometimes be associated with throat, tongue or jaw cancer.
Who is at risk?
Dr. According to Deshpande, “The use of tobacco, both smoking and chewing, have become a major cause of cancer of the head and neck. In addition, excessive alcohol consumption and HPV infection have been linked to an increased risk.”
Why initial identity matters
Catching cancer quickly improves the rate of survival and the success of treatment significantly improves. “When diagnosed in early stages, head and neck cancer are highly treated with surgery, radiation and targeted remedies,” Dr. Deshpande explains. “However, in advanced cases, more aggressive treatments are required, the overall quality of speech, swallowing and life.”
When to see the doctor
If you experience any of these symptoms, for more than two weeks, do not wait for a doctor and they may recommend imaging tests, endoscopy or biopsy to rule cancer.
