What if a simple change in your routine can help you live longer? According to the aging expert Dan Butner, it may be just a trick to swap your normal drink for green tea. He believes that this ancient drinks, enjoying some of the world’s longest-long living communities for centuries, can add about five years to your life-you drink it continuously.
On aging, a famous researcher and writer Buutner insisted that sometimes sips would not be cut. ā€œSeven cups are ideal one day, but even three cups have been connected for about four additional years of healthy life expectancy,ā€ they explain. ā€œGreen tea probably has 1,500 compounds – we do not sure which people contribute the most. But green tea has been a daily habit in at least two blue areas, ā€he says.

What are blue zones?

Buettner coined the word ā€˜Blue Zone’ to describe areas where people live for a long time. These include Okinawa in Japan, Sardinia in Italy, Ikaria in Greece, Nicoya Peninsula in Costa Rica and Loma Linda in California. Diet and lifestyle options in these regions contribute significantly to their longevity, and some of these areas have a common element, especially in Japan.

Health Benefits of Green Tea

Many scientific studies support the claim that green tea can improve health and potentially expand lifespan. Research of 2011 suggests that green tea rich in plant-based antioxidants called Catechins can help reduce the level of LDL cholesterol. Lower LDL cholesterol is associated with low risk of heart disease, stroke and heart attack.

A 2013 study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition has shown that regular consumption of green or black tea, whether as a beverage or complement, can reduce cholesterol levels and reduce blood pressure. Recently, a 2020 study found that Green Tea significantly reduced total cholesterol (TC) and LDL levels among 3,320 participants.
Green tea can also support brain health. Polyphenols are believed to be considered to slow cognitive decline in green tea and reduce the risk of dementia. Research indicates that improvement in medium green tea consumption is associated with brain function and low risk of neurodynative diseases. A study estimated to 2025 suggests that drinking several cups of green tea per day can provide additional protection, especially for men.

Should you start drinking more green tea?

While the benefits of green tea are well supported by research, it is always best to consult a health specialist before making a major diet change, especially if you have underlying health conditions.

If you are looking for a simple way to promote your health and potentially expand your lifetime, adding some cups of green tea to your daily routine may be a step in the right direction.
