Paneer is basically everywhere. Sandwich, Burger, Pasta, Fris, and WhatsApp! Our love for that Goi, Stretchi, Melty layer is universal. But here in India, Paneer’s most famous form is Paneer. This is our cow-to protein, our rest is food, and honestly, the best thing about desi vegetarian cooking. But, do you know that everything is not melted to the way of mozerela? In fact, there are hundreds of cheese varieties worldwide. Some melt and some are not. Nevertheless, many people think that cottage cheese (aka cheese) melts just like regular cheese. So, does the cottage cheese (cheese) melt?

well not really. Paneer melts mosarela, cakes, or other processed cheese, the way it melts. Do you think about that stretch and smooth texture when someone has melted the cheese? Paneer cannot do this. This is because it lacks an enzyme called Renet, which gives Mosarella Paneer its signature melted nature. When you heat the cheese, especially fresh, homemade cheese, it softens and becomes slightly creamy in the inside. However, it will still not be like gooey or lava, the way we love our pizza. Instead, it will hold its shape very well. You can fry it, grill it, or add it to a curry, allowing it to be perfect for our vegetables and snacks.

Is it okay to heat the cheese?

Absolutely! In fact, when you heat the cheese, it really brings out its real personality. You can pan with lightly or allow them to soak the gravy, the cheese becomes a beautiful component with heat. Just make sure that it does not exceed because it can be rubber. If you are filling the cheese recipes again, add some milk or water to bring their signature tenderness back.

How to store cheese correctly

Homemade or storebott, cottage cheese must be properly stored to maintain its freshness and texture. Follow these 5 tips to maintain its quality:

1. Store in water

Once you make fresh cheese, store it in a clean, cold water bowl in the fridge. This prevents it from drying and maintains the texture of its sponge for a few days.

2. Change daily water

If you are storing it for more than 24 hours, be sure to replace daily water to avoid any sour odor or bacterial development. Fresh water keeps it fresh.

3. Do not freeze it

Paneer will lose its texture in the freezer. When you melt it, it will become granulated, almost useless in serball and dishes.

4. Soak before cooking

The refrigerated cheese may feel a bit difficult. Soak cubes in warm water for 10-15 minutes before adding to your recipe. This will soften it immediately.
