In short

  • Joe Biden has been diagnosed with aggressive stage 4 prostate cancer
  • Experts suspect that cancer can progress in stage 4 so quickly without pre -signs.
  • Stage 4 prostate cancer is incurable but can be controlled for years

Former US President Joe Biden’s recent diagnosis of advanced prostate cancer, which has already spread to his bones, has created a debate between doctors and users on social media how quickly the disease can progress.

The declaration described the disease as aggressive, with a glyson score of 9, indicate a high-grade cancer that is known to grow rapidly and spread.

However, some experts have expressed doubts about whether such advanced stages could have developed in a short time without the first signs.

After the diagnosis of the former President, his wife, Dr. Jill Biden has been criticized by Donald Trump Jr., the eldest son of President Donald Trump, on social media.

He questioned how the first woman, who holds a doctoral degree in education, could remember the signs of such advanced disease.

“What do I want to know how Dr. Jill Biden remembered stage five metastatic cancer or is it another cover-up yet?” Trump Junior wrote in the post on X.

‘Stage 4 prostate cancer does not occur overnight’

US-based physician and researcher Dr. Steven Que expressed concern about the timeline in a post on X which went viral.

“Stage 4 prostate cancer does not occur overnight,” he wrote, suggesting that the former president’s medical team would have to know about cancer long ago than publicly disclosed.

“Even with the most aggressive form, it is a 5-7-year journey without treatment before becoming metastatic. It means that it will be misconduct for this patient to show and the first time a metastatic disease will be diagnosed in May 2025. It is highly likely that he was diagnosed with prostate cancer during his white house tenure and was unhappy with American people.

Biden demarcated the White House in November last year. Earlier, in August 2024, the 82 -year -old was out of the US presidential race, which was amidst the speculation of fever around his health, extended by a nearby video examining his physical health and mental acumen.

Biden suddenly ended his dialect for the election and proposed his deputy and then vice -president Kamla Harris as a Democrat candidate for the presidential election.

Doctors usually recommend regular screening for more than 50 men through PSA (prostate-specific antigens) blood tests and digital rectal examinations, which can help detect prostate cancer before the symptoms arise.

While high-grade cancer like biden can spread faster than average, experts say that it is still unlikely to reach Metastasis in a few months to reach stage 4 to include metastasis from bones.

Not curable, but can be controlled for years

Dr. Dr., Medical Director of Cancer Program for Northwestern Health Network. Chris George clarified that once prostate cancer spreads to bones, it is considered incurable.

“When the cancer has spread to bones, it makes stages 4. This means that the cancer is not curable. There is no treatment available that can cure cancer,” he told the Reuters.

However, he said that it could still be controlled for an extended period. “Two or three years are very realistic, and some lucky patients get four, five, six and more time control,” he said.

Dr. George also suggested that Biden’s cancer may explain his physical decline during public appearances in recent years.

“I don’t think he had cancer in the last two years and that’s why we saw a physical decline on television. I think maybe something else happened and this cancer was diagnosed,” he said.

A Urologist of Orlando Health Medical Group, Dr. Jamin Brahmabhatta said that Biden is likely to undergo lack of androgens.

“In many patients who diagnose metastatic prostate cancer, treatment usually starts the day of diagnosis,” he told the Reuters.

“So patients can start, start on the deprived therapy of their endrogen, which is very high like hormone caustation. So we are trying to slow down cancer, which can be fed by hormones or testosterone. So treatment starts there, and then more evaluation is being given and as they see more specially we can expand the team.

Cancer progression often becomes silent in early stages

In India, oncologist says that many cases become uncontrolled until the disease becomes quite advanced.

Associate Director of Urology at PSRI Hospital in New Delhi. Prashant Jain said, “Most patients do not take medical attention quickly, and until they do, the disease often progresses. Many people are surprised to learn that they have cancer as it remains silent in its early stages.”

He explained that cancer usually begins in prostate and then can spread to nearby structures like the bladder, and eventually far away organs, especially for bones and liver, leading to fatal consequences.

“A biopsy is used to confirm the diagnosis. MRI scan is recommended, especially when the PSA level is less than 4, but there is a clinical suspicion,” he said.

Treatment develops with the progression of the disease

Prostate cancer develops over time.

Surgical oncologist and co-founder of The Art of Healing Cancer Center, Dr. Mandeep Singh said that initially, prostate cancer often reacts well to hormonal therapy, which works by reducing testosterone or blocking its action.

“However, resistance to hormonal treatment may develop, which complicates management,” he said.

At that point, treatment often turns into personal medicine depending on biopsy results. While chemotherapy is usually not effective in early stages, it becomes more relevant in advanced or resistant cases.

Lack of regular screening in India

Dr. Jain also highlighted a major difference in India’s healthcare approach.

“Prostate cancer progresses very slowly in most cases, but the lack of patient awareness and regular screening means that initial detection is often missed. In India, health check-up is streamlined or regularly streamlined or performed until the symptoms are, unlike Western countries,” he said.

According to the guidelines of the American Urological Association, more than 50 men should consider regular PSA tests to quickly catch the dirt.

Although the PSA test is not clinical in itself, it provides an important lead, especially since most prostate cancer starts around this age.

The Biden family did not address speculation about the cancer was first detected. However, his doctors have confirmed that cancer is hormone-sensitive, and currently treatment is underway.
