Travelers will soon be able to take electric air taxis from Bengaluru to its airport

Bengaluru, a city notorious for traffic congestion, may soon experience a transportation revolution. Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL) and Sarala Aviation have joined forces to explore the potential of electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft, or air taxis.
This partnership aims to redefine air travel by offering a faster, cleaner and more accessible mode of transportation. The collaboration will focus on developing operational models for seven-seat eVTOL aircraft, which could significantly reduce travel times between the city center and the airport.

Sarala Aviation envisions making air ride-sharing as affordable as traditional cab services. According to his estimate, the journey from Bengaluru airport to Electronic City can be completed by air in just 19 minutes, costing around Rs 1700. This is in line with the current cab rides, which can take more than two hours and cost around Rs 2,500. For premium services.
The CEO of Sarala Aviation expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership, highlighting its potential to reduce Bengaluruās traffic problems. This initiative not only promises to improve transportation efficiency but is also in line with sustainability goals. Electric aircraft provide a clean alternative to traditional fossil fuel-powered vehicles, reducing carbon emissions and contributing to a healthy environment. Earlier in June, Madhya Pradesh had launched an interstate air taxi service connecting major destinations in the state including Bhopal, Ujjain, Gwalior, Indore, Khajuraho and Jabalpur.
