Speaking to the media, Dilip Kumar, Executive Director of Information and Publicity, Railway Board, said, “To facilitate safe travel during Chhath Puja, we have added additional trains on routes towards Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. Government’s security Teams of Railway Police (GRP) and Railway Protection Force (RPF) are deployed at crowded places, and railway servants are available to assist passengers in enquiry.”

Ticketing for this is available both online and offline, with unreserved seats available for those without confirmed tickets. You can also expect dedicated support for senior citizens and physically challenged passengers.

“Special arrangements are made for people going to their hometowns for Chhath Puja. We are running special trains to reduce the crowd,” Dilip said.

Apart from the initiative of Central Railway, Eastern Railway has also expanded its services by operating 50 special trains this year. This is more than the 33 special trains seen last year as well as 400 additional services. “Keeping in mind the increasing number of passengers, we have included more general coaches this time,” said Kaushik Mitra, chief public relations officer of Eastern Railway.
