In view of the growing tensions between the United Kingdom and Canada BangladeshIndian authorities have issued separate advisories for citizens travelling to these countries, urging those there to “exercise extreme caution”.

Travel Advisory to London

Following multiple incidents of violence and arson during anti-immigrant protests that began with a mass stabbing in Southport in northwest England last month, the Indian High Commission in London on Tuesday issued an advisory for Indian nationals travelling to Britain, advising them to remain “vigilant” and take “appropriate precautions” while travelling within the country. Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s government also promised tougher punishment for individuals involved in attacks on police, local communities, arson and looting.
“Indian travellers should be aware of the recent disturbances in parts of the United Kingdom. The Indian High Commission in London is closely monitoring the situation. Tourists from India are advised to remain alert and exercise caution while travelling in the UK,” the report quoted the Indian High Commission in London as saying.
Providing emergency contact details, the advisory said, “It is advisable to follow local news and advisories issued by local security agencies and avoid areas where protests are ongoing. In case of any emergency, the High Commission of India can be contacted.”

travel advice for Bangladesh

The news of increasing unrest and violence in Bangladesh is on our radar. In view of this, the Ministry of External Affairs has issued a strict advisory for Indian citizens, advising them not to travel to Bangladesh until further notice. Due to anti-government protests in Bangladesh, former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina had to resign and leave the country. More than 100 people have died in the violence across the country.

The statement also advised Indian nationals currently in Bangladesh to exercise caution, saying, “All Indian nationals currently in Bangladesh are advised to exercise extreme caution, restrict their movements and keep in touch with the Indian High Commission in Dhaka through their emergency phone numbers.”
Several train services between India and Bangladesh have been cancelled due to the ongoing unrest. The Kolkata-Dhaka-Kolkata Maitree Express, which has not been operational since July 19, will remain suspended on August 6, as announced by Eastern Railway. The bi-weekly Kolkata-Khulna-Kolkata Bandhan Express has also been cancelled from July 21 due to massive protests.
