Here are 5 health benefits of consuming homemade ghee:

Ghee, a staple used in Indian households, has numerous health benefits:

1. Helps in digestion

If you have digestive problems like constipation, ghee can help you. It is one of the most easily digestible fats used in cooking. Ghee can be a natural remedy to balance the body’s heat element.

2. Immunity booster

Ghee has strong microbial and antiviral properties that help boost immunity. It is also rich in soluble vitamins that help develop these properties.

3. Good for heart health

According to nutritionist Rupali Dutta, ghee is a safer option for heart health than refined oil. As a source of saturated fat, it can be consumed in small quantities daily.

4. Weight loss

Struggling to lose weight? Ghee can help you! This saturated fat contains a short-chain fatty acid that can help remove stubborn fat and boost your metabolism.

5. Provides energy

A spoonful of ghee can boost your energy levels. Any dish rich in ghee can help keep you full and satisfied for a longer period of time.

These are the 3 mistakes you must avoid while consuming ghee:

According to Ayurvedic doctor Varalakshmi Yanamandra (@drvaraayurveda), if you are suffering from stomach problems, understand that consuming incompatible food combinations can lead to bloating. Ghee is sweet, heavy and cold and can balance the vata and pitta doshas. Here are three mistakes you should absolutely avoid for a happy and healthy gut system:

1. Mixing ghee with cold foods

You might think that consuming ghee in any form is beneficial, but it is not so. Ghee is heavy and sticky. According to the expert, ghee should always be followed by hot food or liquids. Consuming ghee with cold water or foods can cause indigestion and other digestive problems. To get the most out of this golden nectar, consume ghee with hot foods.

2. Ghee and honey

Do you eat ghee and honey together? It’s time to change your habit. According to experts, eating ghee and honey in equal quantities can cause many health problems and they are also not digested together. Instead, eat them separately for maximum benefits.

3. Consume ghee when there are toxins in the digestive system

If you have AMA – a type of digestive toxin associated with stomach problems and bloating – you should not include ghee in your diet. AMA is sticky and heavy just like ghee. Eating them together will further disrupt your agni. Common symptoms of AMA are a thick white coating on the tongue, lack of enthusiasm, loose stools, constant fatigue and loss of appetite.
