This policy is beneficial for everyone, especially for people working in remote areas who are moving back to smaller cities to save money. Here is a list of some cities that are offering cash and other facilities to new residents:

West Virginia

• Incentives: $12,000 or more

In addition, West Virginia is also offering a free outdoor recreation package, co-working space, and more. In the first year, new residents will be paid $10,000 in monthly installments, and the final $2,000 will be released at the end of the resident’s second year of living in West Virginia. To be eligible for the Ascend West Virginia program, applicants must work remotely. You must also provide proof of employment and income before being accepted into the program, have the ability to relocate within six months, be 18 years or older, and be a US citizen or green card holder.

Rochester, New York

• Incentive: Up to $9,000 in homeowner grants

Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and eligible to work in the U.S. Applicants must live at least 300 miles from Rochester and relocate within six months of being approved. To date, 32 remote workers have relocated through the program.

tulsa, oklahoma

• Incentive: $10,000 rent grant or a lump sum after purchasing an eligible home and a three-year membership to a local co-working space.

The application process for this includes a 30-minute virtual interview. If you are selected to move forward, you will need to complete a background check and income verification. Once approved, Tulsa Remote will need to verify that you have signed a qualified lease or purchased a qualified home. Approved applicants will then attend a new member orientation. Once these steps are completed, you will be eligible to receive grant funds.

Topeka, Kansas

• Incentive: Up to $10,000 will be allocated toward rent for the first year, or up to $15,000 after you purchase a home.

To receive the incentive, your employer must participate in the GO Topeka employee relocation program and contribute from $2,500 to $15,000. After the first year, the program will refund a portion of the total eligible relocation incentive.

Illinois

• Incentives: Starting at $6,800

Many communities, including Jacksonville, Mattoon and Pittsfield, are offering incentives and a variety of other perks to attract new residents. Jacksonville is also offering a $9,300 package that includes $5,000 cash for relocation.
