Benefits more benefits: Novo Nordisk India MD on ozmpic side effects
Vikrant Shrotriya, managing director of Novo Nordisk India, addressed concerns over the ill effects of the ozony during a session in India, today in the Conclave 2025.

The benefits of the ozapic defeated risks, Vikrant Shrotriya, Corporate Vice President and Managing Director, Novo Nordisk India, said, during a session on the Ozempic in today’s Conclave 2025 in India.
Ozampic, a drug popular for its tremendous weight-reversal effects, has been criticized for its potential side effects, including conditions that can provoke and interrupt the eye flow to the eye, which can lead to blindness.
A study showed that nine people in the US experienced vision issues after using Semglutide (active compound).
Speaking of these side effects, Vikrant said, “It is important to understand how a drug reaches the market. It passes through strict evaluation through phase 1, phase 2, and phase 3 tests to assess its safety and effectiveness. Ozampic has been fully studied for its risks and benefits. A drug is only approved when a drug is approved.”
He said, “We have a security monitoring through regular audit reports. After the launch it was launched, we were surprised because there was much more demand than what we demand.”
Has the Ozapics put unrealistic pressure on the society? “I am more concerned about the health of the nation when it comes to obesity. The real issue is obesity. For those who take the drug unnecessarily, I want to take precautions and hope that its misuse will be stopped,” Vikrant said.
The ozemic is a prescription drug, developed by Global Pharma company Novo Nordisk, which helps to control blood sugar levels for people with type 2 diabetes. It is a self-prasaded injection under the skin once a week.
The drug is a glucagon -like peptide -1 (GLP -1) receptor agonist, which comes in 0.5 mg, 1 mg or 2 mg doses. This class of drugs mimics GLP-1 hormone that helps control insulin (hormone) secretions and appetite. By slowing down digestion, it reduces signs of appetite in the brain.
Vikrant said that ozmpic is a long -term drug for metabolic diseases, and while it helps reduce body weight, requires motivation and will power to maintain results. He said that drugs work best with diet and exercise.
