Health Benefits of Hummus
Plant Based Protein
Hummus is made primarily from chickpeas and is an excellent source of plant-based protein. It helps with muscle repair, growth, and overall cellular health, making it good for vegetarians and vegans.
source of fiber
The chickpeas in hummus give you soluble and insoluble fiber that helps with digestion and supports a healthy gut. Fiber also helps with regular bowel movements, helps control weight and can reduce cholesterol levels.
cardiovascular health
Hummus contains ingredients like olive oil and chickpeas that contain heart-healthy fats, especially monounsaturated fats. It may help reduce bad cholesterol (LDL) and reduce blood pressure. This combination also helps reduce the risk of heart diseases.
anti inflammatory properties
Olive oil is a primary ingredient in hummus which is rich in antioxidants like oleocanthal which has anti-inflammatory effects. Regular consumption of hummus may help reduce inflammation, thereby improving joint health and reducing the risk of chronic disease.
blood sugar level
The combination of protein, fiber and healthy fats in hummus slows carbohydrate absorption, preventing spikes in blood sugar levels. This makes hummus a good food choice for people who are trying to manage diabetes or insulin sensitivity.
rich in essential nutrients
Hummus contains important nutrients like folate, iron, vitamin B, magnesium and zinc that help in energy production, immune function and formation of red blood cells.
weight management
Its high fiber and protein content helps improve satiety, thereby reducing total calorie intake. Hummus also has a low glycemic index which helps control appetite and maintain a healthy weight over time.
