A woman from South -East Vyoming is hospitalized after positive testing bird fluAccording to state health officials. It is an H5N1 influenza, a virus that is spreading among animals and in some cases, as humans.
According to the US Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), around 70 people in the United States have been infected with bird flu in the last one year. However, researchers believe that the number of real matters may be more.
The affected woman, who lives in the Platt County, had a backyard herd of chickens who fell ill and died. Health officials believe that they had direct contact with infected birds. She also has other existing health conditions and is currently receiving treatment in a hospital outside Vyoming.
Vyoming State Health Officer and Epideologist Dr. Alexia Harrist assured the residents that the risk of widespread infection is low. “Vyoming residents should not have a high level of concern about this human case,” he said in a press release. However, he admitted that while the bird flu had mild symptoms in most human cases in the US, the condition of this patient is more severe.
Bird flu outbreak in India

According to media reports, 7,200 poultry birds have been selected in Maharashtra alone since January 1, and more than 2,200 eggs have been destroyed in bird flu affected areas.
Outbreaks have mainly affected unorganized and backyard poultry forms, sparing large, organized poultry sector. One of the latest cases was reported in Mangli village of Brahmapuri taluka in Chandrapur district.
Officials of the Maharashtra Animal Husbandry Department have chosen more than 2,000 birds within the 5 km radius of the outbreak area. After the standard safety protocol, all birds, eggs and animals were destroyed within this limit. In the Chandrapur case, it included 1,165 eggs and 50 kg of animal feed.
To support the affected poultry farmers, the government has distributed a compensation of Rs 2,91,963.

Is it safe to eat poultry during bird flu outbreak?
Many people worry about consuming poultry products during a bird flu outbreak. However, health experts confirm that eggs and chicken are safe from reliable sources if cooked properly.
Doctors recommend cooking eggs at a temperature of at least 175 degrees Fahrenheit. This ensures that both yolk and egg white are fully cooked, ending any possible virus. Undercuch eggs, such as half a boil or flowing, should be avoided.
Similarly, chicken should be cooked at at least 165 degrees of Fahrenheit internal temperature. This temperature effectively kills bacteria and viruses, including bird flu virus. Proper food handling practices should be followed:
Keep raw and cooked foods separate.
Store the raw chicken in a separate container to prevent cross-polls.
After handling raw poultry, wash hands thoroughly with soap and water.
Clean all the surfaces and utensils in contact with raw poultry.
