A 10-year-old boy is fighting for his life in the intensive care unit after he was allegedly given the wrong blood group by hospital staff. A 10-year-old child was allegedly given wrong blood transfusion at JK Lone Hospital in Jaipur. According to news reports, the alleged negligence occurred when hospital staff administered two different types of blood transfusions to the child on December 5 and 7. While her blood group was O+, she was given AB+ blood.
The hospital administration said the boy was admitted to the intensive care unit for treatment of chronic kidney disease and was put on a ventilator after his admission.
However, hospital officials said that his condition was already critical when he was admitted. “A committee has been formed to investigate the incident. The health of the child is being closely monitored. Tests were conducted to detect any reaction to the wrong blood transfusion, but no evidence of reaction was found,” JK Lon medical superintendent Dr Kailash Meena told The Times.Of India.
A copy of his blood report released earlier this week, seen by TOI, shows that his creatinine level is 8.5 mg/dl, much higher than the normal level of 0.6 mg/dl by 1.5 mg/dl. Is.
