China claims great success in developing vaccine for stroke and heart attack
Chinese scientists have announced that a new vaccine is in development to prevent the formation of plaque in the arteries, leading to heart attacks and strokes. They are currently testing the vaccine on mice to understand its effectiveness in preventing atherosclerosis, although further testing is required before humans are available.

Heart disease is one of the biggest killers around the world, in which every minute is struggling with heart conditions.
Scientists in China have developed a possible vaccine to prevent the formation of plaque in the arteries that can cause blood clots, strokes, and heart attacks. It is also known as atherosclerosis or formation of fatty plaque in the arteries. The final stiffness of the arteries from inflammation blocks the blood flow and causes a stroke, aneurysm or even a heart attack.
Doctors say atherosclerosis – an inflammatory disease – contains natural obstacles and enzymes by the body’s congenital immunity, as well as its adaptive systems, antibodies. This type of arterial obstacles were previously diagnosed via scan, but are now treated with surgical processes such as angioplasty, which uses stents to prevent blood vessels from closing.
Heart disease is one of the biggest killers around the world, in which every minute is struggling with millions of heart conditions. The American Heart Association says that every 34 seconds, a person dies of heart disease. Therefore, developing a vaccine to prevent heart attack and stroke can be a revolutionary step, given that it can potentially reduce mortality.
How does a new vaccine intend to work?
For a long time, experts have stated that vaccination can be used to treat or prevent the disease. A new study published in the journal Nature communication A vaccine is described that can reduce atherosclerosis growth in mice.
“Our nano vaccine designs and pre -pregnant data presented a potential candidate for immunity treatment for atherosclerosis,” scientists from Nanjing University of Science and Technology have written in China.
In previous studies, a digital library of a variety of proteins has been created that prevents inflammation and promotes the body’s immune response to atherosclerosis. Protein has P210, which has been found to trigger an immune response against atherosclerosis progression, and this is the same as the purpose of the new vaccine is to use in humans.
The vaccine latch the P210 antigen on small iron oxide nanopathy and attachs an auxiliary – a substance used to improve the immune response of a vaccine – for a separate set of nanokanas.
The study has also reported that a mixture of vaccine designs reduces plaque progression and atherosclerosis growth in mice that were inserted on a high-cholesterol diet. This worked by helping the body take antigens and auxiliary, which then activated the stars shaped dendritic cells of the immune system.
A waterfall of changes caused by the vaccine eventually triggered the production of antibodies against P210.
“Our findings show that two-dimensional nano vaccine delivery strategy is effective against atherosclerosis,” researchers write. Scientists say that they are now planning to study further to understand the period for which the nano vaccine protects mice against atherosclerosis. However, the vaccine will never be available soon as there is a need to conduct extensive tests.
