Elu dal is a unique, potato-based curry that mimics the traditional lentil texture without using lentils. Its rich taste and creamy stability make it a comfortable and satisfactory dish.

Since Elu dal mainly contains potatoes, it is high in carbohydrates and lacks protein. However, you can make it healthy by using minimal oil and pairing it with fiber -rich foods like whole wheat bread or brown rice. Remember, potatoes like their own offer nutrients….

Can Alu’s dal be made separately without boiling potatoes?

Yes, you can cook the potatoes directly instead of boiling in curry. Just cut them finely and let them soft into the spicy mixture.

What to serve with Aloo’s dal?

Alu dal pairs with well boiled rice, cumin rice, or roti. You can also enjoy it with crispy papad, a pickle of your choice and fresh yogurt for full food.

Elu’s dal recipe | How to make allu dal at home

Start by boiling the potatoes and mashing them well. Add some boiling water and mix well. For the tempering, heat mustard oil in hard work and add mustard seeds, fenugreek, hing, bay leaf and dried red chili. Saute well, then add chopped onion and green chili. Once the onion turns golden brown, add crushed ginger, garlic and chili. Next, add turmeric and red chili powder. Now, add the mashed potato mixture and mix everything well. If necessary, add some more boiling water to adjust stability. Let it boil for about 10-15 minutes. Finally, add garam masala and fresh coriander leaves. serve hot!
