La Vigne à Farinet in Switzerland is the smallest registered vineyard on Earth. Many people don’t know but it is owned by the spiritual master Dalai LamaHowever, this stunning place was not always his, it originally belonged to the Abbé Pierre.
Spread over just 1.618 square metres, Farinet’s three vines – Fendant, Pinot Noir and Petit Arvin – feature the participation of celebrities and leading figures from politics, sport and cinema.

It’s no secret that Switzerland is known for its attention to detail and production of superior quality goods like wine. More than 250 grape varieties can be found growing in 15,000 hectares of vineyards owned by 1,500 growers throughout Switzerland – and Farinet is one of them.
The annual harvest is blended with the best Valais wines to create one thousand bottles, which are then sold for a charitable purpose. From the Sentier des Vitroux it is less than an hour’s walk to reach the hill where the vineyard is planted.
The Glass Trail consists of 21 artworks created by glass maker Theo Imboden. He based his work on the paintings of painter Robert Héritier. The memory of the Freenet persists along the way. Truly inspired by the life of Farinet, this path also provides travelers with an opportunity to reflect on human values.
