Doctors removed 2 kg hair ball from the stomach of a 21 year old woman; Know about child eating disorder
A 21-year-old woman underwent surgery in Bareilly, from whose stomach doctors removed a hair weighing two kilograms. After talking to the woman, the doctors came to know that she had been secretly eating her own hair for the last 16 years. Doctors told that the girl was suffering from hair eating disorder. A 21-year-old woman underwent surgery in Bareilly, after which doctors removed not a little bit of hair from her stomach, but the entire hair weighing two kilograms. Doctors said the girl was discharged on Friday, TOI reported. The woman was a resident of Karagaina in Subhashnagar and was suffering from stomach ache for about five years.
After several consultations with different doctors, a CT scan revealed that she had a hair-like mass in her stomach. She was admitted to the district hospital on September 22 and had undergone surgery to remove about two kilograms of hair from her stomach about a week ago.
After talking to the woman, the doctors came to know that she had been secretly eating her own hair for the last 16 years. Psychiatrist Dr Ashish Kumar said that the girl was counseled after the operation. His counseling sessions will continue for a few months.
