Myth 1: Rheumatic affects only older people. Dr. Says Bansal, “RA is usually diagnosed between the ages of 30 and 50, but even children are known as adolescent rheumatics.” If you are experiencing joint pain, do not dismiss it as a “problem of old age”.
Myth 2: Rheumatoid arthritis is just joint pain.

Myth 3: Exercise makes rheumatism worse.
Fact: Movement is really beneficial for people with RA. “Low-affected exercises such as swimming, walking, and yoga help reduce hardness and strengthen the muscles around the joints,” Dr. Bansal advises. However, it is important to consult a doctor before starting any exercise scheme to avoid unnecessary stress on joints.
Myth 4: Diet has no role in managing rheumatism.
Fact: While the diet will not cure RA, it can help manage symptoms. “Omega -3 Foods rich in fatty acids, like fatty fish and walnuts, have anti -inflammatory properties,” Dr. Bansal says. “On the other hand, processed and sugary foods can spoil inflammation.” A well -balanced diet supports overall health and RA can help reduce symptoms.
Myth 5: Rheumatoid arthritis is caused by poor lifestyle options. “While lifestyle causes like smoking can increase risk, RA is mainly inspired by genetics and immune dysfunction,” Dr. Bansal says. This is not something you develop just a bad diet or lack of exercise.
Myth 6: Treatment for osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis is similar.
Fact: “Osteoarthritis and RA are completely different positions,” Dr. Bansal says. “Oy is caused by wearing and tear, while RA is an immune system disorder.” Treatment for RA includes disease-propelled antiger drugs (DMARD) and biologics to suppress immune activity, while OA is focused on joint replacement surgery, while OA treatment is on pain management and in severe cases.
