Dos is the latest culinary marvel from the minds behind the award-winning Tres.
Have you been to Tres at Lodhi? If you have, I am sure you will love this place not only for its delicious food but also for its ambiance and hospitality. Dose is the latest culinary marvel from the minds behind the award-winning Tres. Chefs Jatin Malik and Julia Carmen Desa have redefined the city’s dining landscape once again with this imaginative venture. Their aim? To elevate global street food, combining it with a touch of haute cuisine while maintaining a cozy, lively atmosphere.
I am a fan of Tres’ food, so when I got an invitation to visit Dos, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity. Compared to Tres, Dos had a more café-like atmosphere – it seemed like a great place for a more relaxed outing. What attracted me most was the concept. Dos is a celebration of duality. The restaurant’s split-level design is a visual representation of this concept. Downstairs, a deconstructed colonial aesthetic blends seamlessly with contemporary vibrancy, while an al fresco area offers an escape into nature. Upstairs, a calm, lounge-like ambiance invites guests to relax. An eye-catching wall sculpture of curated modern art and traditional crockery further emphasises the restaurant’s fusion ethos.
Dos is a chameleon, changing effortlessly throughout the day. Whether you want to have a relaxed breakfast, a casual lunch or hang out late into the night, this versatile place is for you. The ambiance, even the artwork, changes with the changing times, creating different experiences for morning, afternoon and evening – at night the windows in the brick walls open up to reveal dark views.
However, the heart of Dos is in its food. Its menu is a global passport, taking diners on culinary adventures without leaving Delhi. Familiar flavours are reimagined and combined in unexpected ways, defying geographical boundaries.
I started my lunch with a refreshing cold pressed green juice, perfect for cleansing the palate. The Smoky Chipotle Prawns were a great appetizer, with the sweetness of the yellow peas and the crunch of the crispy onions complementing the prawns perfectly. While the Crispy Fish Chipotle was also enjoyable, the prawns stole the show.
The Veg Flaky Pizza was a pleasant surprise. I couldn’t believe how the potatoes surprisingly looked so delicious on the pizza. The toppings had a little sweetness (I think from the red onions), which was a welcome change from the pizzas I usually get. But the most special thing was the pizza base. It was similar to Indian Kulcha. Then I found out that the pizzas at Dos are made with potato-fermented dough, which gives them a unique texture and taste. Interesting!
Another dish I really liked was the Prawns, Calamari, Crispy Fish Rice Bowl. If you are thinking that there are so many ingredients in one bowl, wait no more! It also had broccoli, salsa, edamame, spinach and a delicious seasoning. What a satisfying bowl it was.
But obviously, I had some space left in my stomach for dessert. The Banana Ice Cream was a simple yet delicious dessert. The Mango Coconut Rum Tiramisu melted my heart with its drooling flavor.
So, if you are planning a trip to Dos, don’t forget to try my top recommendations – Flaky Pizza, Chipotle Prawns and Banana Ice Cream.
