Mounjaro is now available in a single-witted vial that activates two major hormones, GIP and GLP-1

US-based pharmaceutical giant Elli Lily launched popular anti-dualism and obesity drug mounjaro in India, drug regulators, after obtaining a marketing authority from the Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO). The drug is used to control type 2 diabetes and weight.
Mounjaro is now available in a single-tier vial that activates two major hormones-GIP and GLP-1-which controls both your blood sugar levels and hunger, leading to weight loss. However, it is used with a healthy diet and regular workouts.
Available as 2.5 mg vial, the price of Maunjaro is Rs. 3,500, and 5 mg vial will be available at Rs 4,375. The company spokesman said, “This Indo-specific pricing reflects Lily’s commitment to expand innovative treatment in the country.”

How does Mounjaro work?

According to experts, Mounjaro helps prevent your blood sugar levels from being too high, in the following ways:
  • This increases the amount of insulin in your body when your blood sugar level is increasing.
  • This prevents your liver from releasing the stored sugar
  • This slows down the absorption of things you eat and drink.

The drug selectively binds and activates hormone receptors, improves insulin secretion, reduces glucagon levels, increases insulin sensitivity, and delays to empty the gastric. It also affects appetite regulation, fat mass decrease and lipid use.

In an American study of tripptide in obese people, known as Sarmount -1 clinical trial, Maunjaro led the lowest dose (15 mg) in the lowest dose (15 mg) and 15.4 kg in the lowest dose (5mg) in 72 weeks. Additionally, one of the three patients lost more than 25 percent of his body weight, much higher than 1.5 percent of the Placebo group.
