Cancer symptoms are often vague. The most common cancer in men – prostate cancer – has some less obvious symptoms. Read on to find out what these signs are.

If the signs and symptoms are caught early, most cancers can be treated and cured.

According to ACS Journals estimates, one in five men will develop cancer in their lifetime. And as the cases of this deadly disease are increasing – especially among men. Doctors say men are more likely to get cancer than women, with differences in lifestyle increasing the risk. However, even as more women began drinking, smoking, and joining the workforce, cancer incidence remained persistent.
New figures show total cancer diagnoses among men increased by seven per cent in 2022, from 167,917 to 180,877. According to experts, there has been a significant increase in prostate cancer in most men.
However, if the signs and symptoms are caught early, most cancers can be treated and cured. And so, it is important not to ignore any unpleasant indicators, such as:

Changes in your bathroom habits

If you suddenly need to go to the toilet all the time or have pain while urinating or defecating, it could be a sign of bladder or prostate cancer.
Some other symptoms to look out for are blood in your stool or urine. Changes in your bowel habits, such as constipation or diarrhea that won’t go away, also matter.

persistent indigestion

A prolonged painful burning sensation in your throat or chest should not be ignored – even if you suspect it is caused by eating spicy food. Don’t assume that regular indigestion or trouble swallowing is a normal part of aging. This may be a sign of cancer of the esophagus, stomach, or throat.

changes in your mouth

If you smoke, chew, dip, spit, or eat tobacco, you need to pay close attention to the changes happening inside your mouth. White spots inside your mouth or white spots on your tongue may be precancerous symptoms of cancer. If not treated, these areas can turn into oral cancer.
Sores, unexplained bleeding, numbness, or tenderness in the areas around your mouth — like your tongue, lips, and cheeks — should let you know it’s time to get checked.

unexplained weight loss

As you age, it becomes more difficult to maintain a healthy weight, so you may consider weight loss a positive thing. But sudden and unexplained weight loss may indicate a serious health problem, including almost any type of cancer.

abnormal lumps

Abnormal lumps appearing anywhere on the body are a cause for concern. Men should pay attention to abnormal growth in the testicles, as this may be a sign of testicular cancer.
It affects young men, but experts don’t know exactly what causes it.
