Gen Z travel influencer says this is the most overhyped tourist destination
Visited 190 countries at the age of 22 – Luca Ferdmenges Definitely living a life that would make us go green. A German adventurer who boasts a TikTok following of 2.9 million has boldly declared one country to be the most overrated place on the planet, and we’re not sure we agree – Egypt,

Known for his outspokenness Travel Insightfully, Pferdmenges has built a loyal fan base eager to discover hidden gems and avoid tourist traps. In an interview with the Daily Mail, his declaration about Egypt, which is synonymous with ancient wonders such as the Pyramids of Giza, has surprised his fans. “In my opinion Egypt is the most annoying country for tourists,” he said.

While the influencer did not elaborate on the specific reasons for his decision, he expressed general frustration with a number of tropical destinations, including the Maldives, Mauritius, the Seychelles and the Caribbean Lesser Antilles. “They are often very touristy and often don’t have much to offer other than beautiful beaches,” he said. His displeasure was not limited to Egypt and tropical locales; Belgium was also on the list of places travelers should avoid.

‘I think it feels very unsafe at night – and I’m talking about Brussels here. And many cities in Belgium are also very ugly. Grey and gloomy, especially in winter,’ he said in his interview with the Daily Mail. Instead, Ferdmenges encourages his followers to explore unknown places, which often offer a more authentic experience at a lower cost. He focused on some underrated countries such as Montenegro. “It’s amazing how little recognition places like Montenegro or Slovenia get. They are some of the most beautiful countries in the world – and cheap too – but nobody visits them,” he said. Other places on his list include Uzbekistan, Myanmar, Bhutan and countries in Latin America.
