If you are a Singapore passport holder, there is good news for you! The definitive global ranking of passports, the 2025 Henley Passport Index has crowned Singapore’s passport as the most powerful in the world.
With visa-free access to 195 out of 227 destinations, the Singapore passport opens up almost every corner of the world! The Henley Passport Index, created by Henley & Partners in partnership with IATA, ranks passports based on their visa-free and visa-on-arrival access. The more countries you can visit without the hassle of paperwork, the more powerful your passport is considered to be.
How did the rest of the world stack up?
Japan has again taken the lead, gaining visa-free access to 193 countries, including China, for the first time since the pandemic. There is also a six-way tie between Finland, France, Germany, Italy, South Korea and Spain, all of which offer their citizens access to 192 destinations.
However, the once-powerful US and UK passports have continued to decline in ranking and are at 9th and 5th respectively.

Where does India stand?
India’s passport slipped five places to stand at 85th in the middle category, allowing visa-free travel to 57 destinations. While this is certainly a decline from 2024, Indian travelers are making the most of their mobility, especially to Asia and the Middle East.
The United Arab Emirates, which ranked 10th, has seen a huge increase in global mobility with visa-free access to 185 destinations – up from 72 more than a decade ago. Afghanistan, on the other hand, remains at the bottom of the list, with visa-free access to only 26 destinations.
