So, you have done it again. You must have swear this time. You promised yourself that you would start modifying weeks in advance. And yet, here you are staring at an entire course, which is alive on a suspicious diet of caffeine and sheer nervousness for less than 24 hours. Not afraid, partner relaxation!
Here is a final-minute survival guide that helps you through strength.
Accept reality
Before diving into full terror mode, take a deep breath and accept your reality. You did not prepare earlier. This is fine (type). There is no time for self-gorge-instead of converting that energy into productivity. The only way through my friend.
Strategic skimming art
Now there is no time to read the entire textbooks or read all those missing lectures at a double pace. Focus on high yield subjects- imagination, major concepts and questions of previous paper. See patterns in previous examinations and target those areas. Think of yourself as an academic detective, what is ‘likely to be likely?’
Dig the distractions
phone? Close. Social media? Blocking. A friend who always panicked and makes you feel worse? Ignored. You need a strict, distraction-free environment. If possible, find a quiet place and create the illusion of being a responsible student for the next few hours.
Pomodoro power
Your brain right now is the attention of a golden fish, so do not expect to focus for five direct hours. Instead, use the Pomodoro technique-25 minutes of intensive study, followed by a 5 minute break. This motivates your brain to think that it does not suffer (too) and helps maintain information better.
Write, just don’t read
Passive reading will not do much when your brain is already in meltdown mode. Instead, scribe things down, make mind maps, or teach a fictional audience (or equally nervous friend). Writing forces you to process information instead of keeping an eye on it.
Use memory AIDS
Samarupa, rhyme, mnemonics – whatever makes things sticks. If you are studying history, turn the major dates into a ridiculous song. If it is science, make absurd similes. The Silier, Better.
Sleep, hydrate, and fake confidence
A sleep deprived of a sleepy, dehydrated zombie does not perform well in the exam. At least four hours of sleep, drinking water and try to walk in that exam hall like you know what you are doing. Confidence can sometimes fool your own brain.
