Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently made his podcast debut on Nikhil Kamath’s ‘People’ series, offering glimpses into his life, childhood and professional journey. Towards the end of the discussion, the conversation took a light-hearted turn as the Zerodha co-founder referred to PM Modi’s alleged “Italy connection” and viral memes. Kamath cheekily referred to the “Melody” memes – named after Modi and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni – which gained popularity after their cordiality at the G7 summit in Italy last year.
Kamath said with a smile, “My favorite food is pizza. And pizza is from Italy. People say you know a lot about Italy.” When asked about the memes, PM Modi smiled and dismissed them, saying, “Woh toh chalta rahta hai. Main ushe apna time bad nahi karta” (That’s just the way things go. I don’t waste my time on that) ).

Switching gears, the Prime Minister discussed his personal relationship with food and described himself as a “non-eater”. He said, “I am not a foodie at all. I happily eat whatever is served to me in any country.” He said he struggles to order food at restaurants. He admitted, “It’s my bad luck that if you give me a menu I can’t choose what to eat. I don’t understand much about it.”
PM Modi also shared an anecdote from his early days with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and recalled how the late Arun Jaitley would often help him order food. He revealed, “I used to ask Arun ji to decide for me. The only condition was that it should be vegetarian.”
The podcast episode gave listeners a more personal side of the Prime Minister.
