Zomato, one of the food delivery platforms, has finally responded to the viral claim made by one of its delivery agents. Hrithik Tomar from Meerut, who worked on Diwali, said that after working from 5 pm to 11 pm on October 31, he earned only ₹ 300. In a video, Hrithik showed how much he was earning after delivering the orders. Side note is, ā€œZomato job in Diwali.ā€ So far it has received 7.4 million views online. Now, in a statement, Zomato has refuted the claims and said that it ā€œdelivered 10 orders and earned a total of ₹695.ā€

ā€œOne of our delivery partners from Meerut costs Rs. Recent articles about the earnings of. It was wrong and disturbing for us to pay Rs 300 for working more than 6 hours on Diwali. Our delivery partners are at the heart of our service, and we ensure that we provide them with great earning opportunities to appreciate their hard work and dedication, especially during festivals,ā€ the company said.

ā€œHere are the facts – the said delivery partner worked for 6 hours on October 30 (as reported in news articles, he did not log in on Diwali day). He delivered 10 orders and earned a total of Rs. Earn. 695. On the same day, multiple delivery partners in Meerut who dedicated an average of 10 hours collected a total of Rs. Earned in the range of Rs. 1200 – Rs. 1300,ā€ the official statement added.

Zomato then requested people not to spread false news, saying, ā€œMisreported data and narratives can impact the livelihoods, motivation and dignity of individuals working in these roles. We request everyone to avoid spreading misinformation.
