India rolls cheap HPV test kit to fight cervical cancer
India has developed indigenously manufactured HPV diagnostic kits for screening cervical cancer, which are inexpensive ways to test for the second most common cancer among Indian women. Two kits use a chip-based real-time PCR (RT-PCR) technique-its accuracy and speed. These kits are designed to detect eight high -risk HPV genotypes, which mainly cause cervical cancer cases.

Tests can detect eight high -risk HPV genotypes – more than 96 responsible for cervical cancer cases
India has launched two indigenous and cost -effective HPV test kits – an essential clinical equipment for cervical cancer – after successful assessment by doctors at All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Delhi. Scientific reviews were performed to detect eight high -risk human papillomavirus genotypes – more than 96 percent of cervical cancer cases globally.
In the country, cervical cancer is a major health concern, which is a major cause of ranking and cancer mortality as the second most common cancer in women. According to available estimates, about 123,907 new cases are diagnosed annually, and 77,348 women die of dreaded disease.
What are two HPV test kits?
According to the Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council, the two evaluates the Goa-based Molibio Diagnostics and Patho by HPV Kit-Trub-HPV-HPV-HPV-HPV-HPV-HPV-HPV-HPV-HPV-HPV-HPV-HRR Plus developed under the Biotechnology Department by Pune-based Malayab Discovery Solutions.
They proceed to a major step in combating cervical cancer, mainly due to frequent infections with high -risk types of HPV – a common sexually transmitted virus.
How do test kits work?
Two kits use a chip-based real-time PCR (RT-PCR) technique-its accuracy and speed. These kits are designed to detect eight high -risk HPV genotypes, which mainly cause cervical cancer cases.
“The main feature of these kits is only seven or eight most common cancer -producing types, which will allow a very efficient and cost -effective screening program, which will be the best for India,” Dr. Neerja Bhatla was quoted by the former head of the Department of Obstate and Women’s Sciences, AIM, and the chief coordinator of the program, PTI.
Two sets can be used as point-off-care tools-but the rituals not only quickly but also in remote and rural areas. “In view of the growth of RTPCR-based clinical features across the nation in the Covid era, sensitive RTPCR-based HPV test kits can prove to be a cost-effective screening method on classical HPV DNA and PAP smear for deployment in national cancer checking program,” Dr. Bhatla said.
What is cervical cancer?
Cervical cancer begins on the surface of your cervix when cells begin to turn into anterior cells. According to experts, HPV infection leads to almost all cases of cervical cancer. HPV is a virus that spreads through sexual contact. Cervical cancer often does not cause symptoms until it begins to spread and that is why regular screening and HPV vaccination are important. Cervical cancer is highly treated when found in early stages.
There are two main types of cancer of the cervix- Chinese cell carcinoma and adenocarcinoma. About 80–90 percent of cervical cancer is squamous cell carcinomes, while 10–20 percent are adenocarcinoma. You may also have a mixture of both types.
