The Kovid Public Inquiry will begin a four -week hearing on Monday, which looks at the purchase and distribution of billions of pounds of medical equipment during the epidemic.

Overall, it has been thought that £ 48BN was spent on individual safety equipment (PPE), test-trace program, hospital supply and vaccine rollouts.

According to the organization Transparency International, about 10% of the contracts at that time were awarded a link in power for the Conservative Government.

The bereaved families have alleged an investigation into the ā€œpossible whitewashā€ after the representatives of PPE suppliers emerged.

ā€˜VIP Lane’

This fifth section of the investigation will be heard from 50 witnesses, which is expected to include law experts, civil servants, politicians and transparency campaigners.

In interrogation, the value of the contracts provided to the companies in the epidemic will be covered, spending, the prevalence of fraud and steps taken to eliminate it.

The investigation will also see in detail on the use of the so-called ā€œVIP laneā€-officially known as high priority lane-to reward government contracts.

The idea was introduced in April 2020, the idea was to treat the proposals to supply PPE with more urgency if they came with the recommendation of ministers, MPs, members of the House of Lords or other senior officials.

At that time the government said that there was a ā€œstrict needā€ to protect health and social care employees, and it was argued that Swift action was required to secure PPE.

A National audit office report Later it was found that by the end of July 2020, one of the 10 suppliers in high priority lanes was awarded a contract, while the figure was less than 100 for other suppliers.

The government ordered more than 30 meters of masks, gowns and other items of PPE during Kovid, with a total of £ 14.6BN contracts.

This part of the investigation will also look at the purchase of ventilator to help patients breathe, as well as millions of lateral flow and PCR tests.
