Christmas 2024: Here are 5 delicious chaat recipes for your Christmas party
1. Spinach Patta Chaat – With a Twist
Palak Patta Chaat is a classic but wondering how to make it Christmassy? Luckily, its ingredients are already on theme: green from spinach and green chutney, white from curd and red from tamarind chutney and pomegranate seeds (usually used for garnish). To make your festive platter special, you can arrange spinach leaves like holly leaves and add arils in the middle to represent cherries. Drizzle yogurt to mimic the hint of snow. Alternatively, arrange the leaves in a circular manner to create a mistletoe-like shape on a plate. Then carefully ‘decorate’ the leash. Use crunchy apples to suggest shiny golden elements to your Christmas platter. Read the original recipe of Palak Patta Chaat here.

2. Dahi Bhalla Chaat
Dahi Bhalla and Dahi Vada Chaat are always crowd pleasers, so definitely consider including these in your Christmas party menu. Like Palak Patta Chaat, the basic ingredients of this recipe are also already based on Christmas theme. We recommend cooking the bhallas first, soaking them in seasoned curd and keeping them in the refrigerator. Once you’re ready to serve, add them to bowls and carefully sprinkle the tamarind and green chutney on top with a teaspoon. Garnish with pomegranate seeds and chopped coriander leaves. 3. Tangy Paneer Chaat
Mix green capsicum, peanuts, tomatoes, white radish and boiled potatoes/corns with sweet chutney made from dates or tamarind. To add spice, add finely chopped green chillies to it. Crumble lots of fresh paneer churma, stir lightly and serve immediately.
4. Spicy Aloo Chaat
Mix boiled potatoes, gram, capsicum and sprouts with green chutney to get a nutritious and green base. Use honey and/or fruits like apples and grapes to add some sweetness to the chaat and balance the spice of the chutney. Garnish with chopped tomatoes and pomegranate seeds for a red layer. Instead of yellow sev, garnish with kurmura for extra crunch and to add that white element!

5. Christmas Fruit Chaat
Winters bring an abundance of delicious seasonal fruits and making fruit chaat is a great way to enjoy their taste. Add strawberry/cherry kiwi, apple (red and green), banana, dragon fruit, etc. to get a colorful Christmas-themed concoction. Balance acidity and flavor with lemon or orange juice. Add chaat masala and slivered almonds for a festive flavour. Just before serving, sprinkle some powdered sugar on your bowl to give it a fun frosted look!
