Mahashivratri Fasting Rules 2025: Mahashivratri is the time of the year when believers are designed for a high-level spiritual detox-and honestly, some digestive gymnastics. Although fasting (VRAT) is a respected tradition for Lord Shiva, it is not necessarily hungry for yourself through the pang of hunger or a coma to the food, the moment you break it at the end. So, let’s discuss dos, dons, and some timid tips to dose your fasting game without feeling like a hungry yogi.
Do: Wise fast goes on
- Hydrate like a supporter: Water is your best friend. Coconut water, lemon water, or even milk can be made without feeling that you are crawling through the desert.
- Nuts (literally): Almonds, cashews, and walnuts are your power boosters. One of these fists will keep your energy and your stomach happy.
- Root for root vegies: Potatoes, sweet potatoes, and pumpkin are suited to fasting and make for delicious food. Boil, roast, or make a light curry – just avoid drowning them in oil.
- Keep it light: Think of kuttu (a type of grain) and Rajgira (Amrath) instead of heavy grains. These make magnificent rotis and puris which will not be taken out with drowsiness later.
- Fresh fruits are your BFF: bananas, papina, and pomegranate give you natural sugars that keep you walking. In addition, they are Lord Shiva-eternal (probably).
Dons: Fasting fails
- Do not feast like a king: The entire point of fasting is spiritual discipline, not to treat yourself with a five-cures fast plate.
- Do not say for processed sugar: Mitai (sweets) may entice you, but they will simply increase your sugar level and feel dull. Go for natural sweetness like honey or jaggery.
- Avoid everything deeply: We get it, fasting is delicious snacks like Sabudana Vada and Kuttu Puris are delicious. But changing your VRAT into a mini deep-fri fest fest cannot sit well with your stomach.
- No caffeine overload: A cup of tea or coffee is fine, but the cup of its cup will dehydrate you. Instead, go for herbal tea or warm milk.
- Quit overwriting at midnight: Just because the fasting is over, it does not mean that you should attack food like a hungry devotee. First ease of eating with light food.
