Chief Minister of West Bengal Mamata Banerjee recently said UNESCO has declared the state as a top destination for heritage tourism. He further explained how this sector has generated employment for a large section of the youth.

“UNESCO has declared Bengal as the top destination for heritage tourism. We have taken major initiatives in developing heritage sites. We are also emphasizing on religious tourism by developing some of the iconic places of worship like Dakshineswar Temple and Kalighat Temple. ” He said.

The CM further said, “The tourism sector has created jobs for lakhs of youth. We have mountains, forests and Sundarbans. We are highlighting the unique feature of each place. Thousands of hotels have also been built at tourist places.”
