US basketball team captain Stephen Curryâs wait for an Olympic gold medal finally ended in Paris this year. Curry scored 24 points and led the US to a 98-87 win over France in the menâs basketball final at the Paris Olympics. The win thrilled fans, but McDonaldâs France had a different and unique take on it. Reacting to the US basketball teamâs golden win, McDonaldâs France jokingly threatened to remove its iconic curry sauce from the menu until the next Olympics in 2028 in Los Angeles. The fast-food chainâs threat was a protest against Curry, who made a last-ditch effort to prevent France from winning the gold medal at the Paris Olympics.

The post created a lot of buzz online and social media users did not waste much time in expressing their views on it. McDonaldâs official X (formerly Twitter) handlewrote cheekily, âIf you donât want curry sauce, get McDonaldâs France.â Putting all speculations and rumours to rest, a spokesperson for McDonaldâs France confirmed that their post was a joke and in reference to Stephen Curryâs match-winning performance in the menâs basketball final at the Olympics 2024. âItâs a joke and a nod to Stephen Curryâs exceptional play against France last Saturday,â the spokesperson was quoted as saying by news agency Reuters.
Stephen Curry scored all of his points on 3-pointers in the final against France. Overall, this was the US menâs basketball teamâs fifth consecutive gold medal and the 17th out of 20 all-time appearances for them at the Summer Games.
âItâs crazy for me to win a gold medal and I thank God for the opportunity to experience it,â Stephen Curry was quoted as saying by news agency AP.
The Paris Olympics gold medal-winning US team included Stephen Curry, apart from other big names like LeBron James, Kevin Durant and Devin Booker.
