If you are a fan of soda, energy drinks, or other sweet beverages, you may want to think twice before taking another sip β especially if you have focused on going back to your hairline. A recent study has found a stunning relationship between Chinese-sweet beverages (SSB) and male pattern hair loss (MPHL).
What is the link between Sugar drinks and hair loss,male pattern baldness (Mphl) is the most common type of hair loss in men. It starts with subtlety with the hair being thin and can eventually give birth to a noticeable bald patches. According to NHS data, about 6.5 million men in the UK experience this condition. While genetics have long been considered the biggest factor, scientists are now revealing how lifestyle and diet can also play a role.
Researchers at the University of Tsinghua in Beijing noticed how to consume sugars drinks from hair loss. Their study suggests that men who drink more sugar-sweet beverages can be at high risk of soda, fruit-flowering drinks, sports drinks, and sweet tea or coffee-MPHL. Their findings have shown that men who experience hair loss have to consume almost double the amount of sugar beverage than hair loss.
How was the study done?
Research included 1,028 male, most college students and teachers from 31 provinces in China. Participants filled surveys about their hair health, diet, lifestyle and mental welfare, with an average age of 27.8. Researchers, especially in the last month, focused on the consumption of their drinks and compared them to their hair loss state.
Results: More than half of the participants (57.6 percent) reported to experience hair loss. Among them, the consumption of sugar beverages was quite high. On average, people with mphl were drinking 4.3 liters of sugary beverages per week, while people with full -headed hair were compared to just 2.5 liters.
More than just sugar β other factors
The study identified many lifestyle and health factors among men who experience hair loss. These include:
β Smoking (current or previous use)
β Hair treatment (such as dyeing, rining, bleaching, or rest)
β Low physical activity
β Low sleep duration
β High level anxiety or ptsd
β A family history of mphl
β Poor dietary habits (including excessively fried food, sweets and low vegetable intake)
Interestingly, the study also found a strong link between anxiety and sugars consumption and hair loss. In other words, stress and diet can work together to speed up the thinning of the hair.
So, does Chinese cause baldness?
Not necessarily β at least, not straight. The study shows a correlation, not a reason-and-effect relationship. This means that the consumption of sugars and hair loss causes the hand to go into the hand, one is not necessarily the reason for the other.
An assistant professor and one of the authors of the study, Dr. Aye Jhao today explained to medical news that excess sugar could be a process called polyal pathway, which affects the level of glucose in hair follicles. Adequate sleep: Poor sleep has been added to hair loss, so target at least 7-8 hours per night.
