Accept the emotional stress: Most of the time people ignore the mental and emotional stress associated with IVF instead of accepting it. Your mental health is as important as your physical health. Allow yourself to feel all those emotions and express them openly instead of suppressing them. Suppressing them will only make your condition worse and cause anxiety and stress.
  • Manage stress and dedicate time to self-care: Having too much stress can affect your fertility and IVF treatment. One can try incorporating relaxation techniques such as deep breathing exercises, yoga or meditation. This can help organize your thoughts while calming your mind. You can try spending some time in nature or going for a long walk to reduce your stress. Amidst all the checks, appointments and responsibilities, you must dedicate some time to self-care.
  • ask for support: Don’t hesitate or feel shy about asking for help and support. When going through emotional turmoil, a person can seek out a space to talk openly about their ongoing thoughts and concerns. You can consult a psychologist or talk to your loved ones. One can also join support groups that can help you connect with others who are also going through fertility treatments.
  • set realistic expectations: You are burdening yourself mentally and emotionally by setting unrealistic expectations that are difficult to achieve. It can be beneficial to set realistic expectations about the IVF process or about your physical and psychological well-being in general.
  • maintain open communication: While undergoing IVF, it is important to maintain open communication with your partner. Constantly sharing each other’s thoughts, fears, excitement, and concerns about the IVF process can help maintain emotional compatibility throughout the journey. This can help strengthen your bond and relationship.
