In an effort to promote tourism, myanmar Visa-free travel has been introduced for citizens of eight countries. The main objective is to boost regional connectivity and attract more visitors. This will make it easier to explore the country’s rich cultural heritage and spectacular landscapes. Officially known as the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, this country is located in Southeast Asia.

In 2022, Myanmar experienced a surge in tourist arrivals as it welcomed a total of 233,487 visitors. This figure represents a significant increase of 78% compared to 2021 – which also signals a strong recovery after previous challenges.
China is the leading source of tourists to Myanmar – followed by Thailand, Japan and South Korea. In 2019, Myanmar welcomed 749,719 visitors from China, while Thailand contributed 273,157 tourists. Japan and South Korea also played important roles with 125,706 and 111,794 visitors respectively.
More and more countries are now getting ready to promote their tourism sector. Earlier, China had announced visa-free entry for citizens of a total of nine countries. This new policy will come into effect from November 8. It said citizens of these countries will be allowed to enter China without a visa for up to 15 days for business, tourism, family visits or transit.
According to reports, China received 8,186 foreign travelers – a significant increase of 48.8 percent compared to the same period last year. Reports also show that about 4.9 million travelers to China entered through the already existing visa-free program.
