Chewing at midnight is never considered a good idea HealthYour habit. But we still can’t get rid of it, at least not completely. If you’re one of those people who has trouble eating in the middle of the night, health advisor Toby King has some advice for you. They have highlighted some foods that can disrupt your sleep patterns and should not be consumed before bed.
According to a report by The Express, Toby said, “We’ve all heard the old story that certain foods can cause nightmares, but what you eat before bed can affect more than just your dreams. , this can affect your overall sleep quality.” Here are some foods that should be avoided before sleeping.

Onion

Onion can easily cause sleep disturbance. This is because lying down immediately after consuming it can cause acid reflux and the fermented fiber can cause uncomfortable bloating.

protein shake

Experts say that protein shake before sleeping is never a good option. Drinking a protein shake before bed can help with muscle recovery while napping, but be careful as it may increase metabolic activity during times of rest.

old cheese

“Old cheeses like Parmesan, Brie or Gouda are rich in an amino acid called tyramine, which can stimulate the release of norepinephrine,” says Toby. This can interfere with the body’s relaxation efforts.

fermented vegetables

Fermented vegetables, such as kimchi or sauerkraut, are known to strengthen gut health. However, Toby recommends keeping the steering clear at night. “You should save your fermented vegetables for earlier in the day because at night they can cause bloating and digestive issues due to their high probiotic and acidity levels,” says Toby.

dark chocolate

Some elements in dark chocolate may help you sleep, such as magnesium, tryptophan, and cocoa flavanols. However, it also contains stimulants and should be avoided before bedtime.
