One-year-old boy loses one eye from rare cancer after swelling; Symptoms you should not ignore

It was a tumor, he said – specifically, retinoblastoma – a cancer in his right eye that occurs when cells grow uncontrolled. Although it is a rare cancer overall, it is the most common eye cancer in childhood, with about 25 percent of cases affecting both eyes.
In Lily’s case, the cancer in her right eye had spread to the left and so she had to undergo immediate surgery to remove her right eye. “I cried. (Lily’s mother, Cassie) cried. Our little girl is going through something unimaginable,” he said.
