Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw recently said that a total of 772 train services including 100 vande bharat Many new services have been introduced in the last five years as a part of the Indian Railways network.
His response came after BJP MP Neeraj Shekhar asked to know the number of new trains proposed during 2024-25. Replying to this, Ashwani said, “During the period 2019-2020 to 2023-2024, 772 train services including 100 Vande Bharat services have been introduced on the Indian Railways network. Moreover, the introduction of train services on Indian Railways is a continuous process, subject to traffic justification, operational feasibility, availability of resources, etc.”

He further said, “Indian Railways introduces and operates various types of services like Express trains, Superfast trains, Passenger/MEMU/DEMU trains and suburban services to cater to the travel requirements of different classes of passengers.”
The minister further informed that the railways has introduced new Vande Bharat train services without replacing the existing trains. “As of July 29, 2024, Indian Railways will have 102 Vande Bharat train services in operation, connecting states with broad gauge (BG) electrified network. These chair car variants are currently being operated over a distance of 760 km,” he said.
Meanwhile, Vande Bharat trains are known for their high speed capabilities, thereby reducing travel time. Travel There will be time savings between major cities. These trains run primarily on the electrified broad gauge network spread across various states.
Delhi has emerged as the central hub for Vande Bharat trains, hosting the highest number of trains among all cities, with a total of 10 trains terminating at the capital. These trains connect Delhi to destinations including Dehradun, Amb Andaura, Bhopal, Ayodhya, Amritsar and the recently added Khajuraho.
