King Charles has sent an individual message to cancer patients who are talking about “hard and sometimes horrific experience” to cancer victims and their loved ones.

In a heartfelt message for guests at a Buckingham Palace reception for cancer charity, the king talked about becoming a cancer “statistical” – referring to more than 1,000 new cases recorded in the UK every day.

He said that his experience of living with cancer has shown that “the deepest moments of the disease can be illuminated with the greatest compassion”.

This message does not provide an update on the king’s progress of his cancer treatment, but royal sources say he continues in a positive direction.

The king was detected an unknown form of cancer in February 2024 and continues to receive regular treatment, which is asked to succeed and is getting better.

After facing side effects, the king was migrated to a brief hospital in March, but he was sufficient for a state visit to Italy with a busy program in April and is said to have planned further foreign trips.

An attempt has been made to remain more open about their health problems – and this latest message reflects their feeling of a shared experience with many other families affected by cancer.

The king’s statement continued: “But as one of the figures himself, I can vow to the fact that it can also be an experience that focuses the best focus of humanity in fast focus.”

He praised the “community of care” of those who helped cancer patients, their humanity as well as their expertise.

The king highlighted “the intensive impact of human connection – whether in careful clarification from an expert nurse, a Dharamshala conveyed by a volunteer, or shared experience in a help group”.

“While every patient’s journey may be different, you are sure that the diagnosis of cancer needs to be faced anytime without hope and support,” the king said.

He quoted Dame Debora James, who died of bowel cancer in 2022 and those who have guests at the parents reception, who said: “There is no regrets; and always, there is always rebellious hope.”

Reception, King and Queen Camilla attended the Buckingham Palace on Wednesday evening, is honored with community projects who are helping those who are living with cancer and trying to prevent cancer for health groups.

Guests will be representatives of Cancer Charity including Macmillan Cancer Support, Breast Cancer Now, Maggi and Children Hospital South West.

The reception includes displays showing the work of groups that help people affected by cancer, including Wigs for Heroes and Move Dance Fill, using dance to support women suffering from cancer.

Palace is also the champion of cancer charities, people living with cancer and losing relatives, including radio presenter Edel Roberts, former footballer Ashley Can and actor Richard E Grant.

“Every day we see the effect that cancer is happening on people’s lives and this experience is even worse for some people because they are worse or where they live, which is completely unacceptable. We are on a mission to change cancer care, but we cannot do it on our own,” said the Chief Executive Officer of McMillan Cancer.
