Foods Ansh Recommends You Should Avoid
While on a weight loss journey, it is a big dilemma as to what to eat. And hence, a good, healthy and balanced diet plays an important role here. From detoxifying you to building strength and immunity, a variety of food groups help provide essential nutrition.
However, according to Ansh, there are certain food groups that are extremely tasty but are a major hindrance in your weight loss journey and should be avoided completely. Here is a list of ten items:
breakfast cereal
According to Ansh, many breakfast cereals are marketed as healthy, but are actually high in sugar and lacking in fiber. “Choose whole-grain cereals or oats without added sugar,” he wrote.
flavored yogurt
While flavored yogurt seems healthy, it often contains added sugars and does not help with weight loss. Instead, you should opt for plain Greek yogurt and add your own fresh fruits to taste.
instant noodles
Although they are extremely convenient, instant noodles are high in refined carbs, sodium, and unhealthy fats. It is best to replace these with whole grain alternatives or homemade noodle soups with fresh vegetables.
high sugar beverages
Packaged fruit juices, sweetened teas and energy drinks are high in sugar and empty calories. It is best to replace these with plain water, herbal tea or even sugar-free beverages.
Creamy Salad Dressing
Creamy dressings for salads, such as mayonnaise-based dressings, are high in unhealthy fats and calories. Instead, use olive oil-based vinaigrette or yogurt-based dressing liberally for a lighter option.
Processed Cheese Spreads
Cheese spreads are often high in sodium and unhealthy fats so it’s best to avoid them. In place of these, you should “choose natural cheese slices or spreads without added ingredients,” Ansh wrote.
High Calorie Biryani
Traditional biryani is very high in calories due to the use of ghee, fried onions and fatty meat. And hence, the best option is to choose biryani with low-fat meat or vegetables and make sure to limit the portion size.
sweet, flavored milk
Delicious milk drinks like rose milk or falooda are very tasty but are full of sugar. “Make your own delicious milk at home using unsweetened milk and natural flavors like cardamom or saffron,” says Ansh.
restaurant buffet
Buffets often encourage overeating with a variety of high-calorie dishes. Choose smaller portions and focus on filling your plate with salads, grilled proteins and vegetables.
Dal and curry
Cream-based dals and heavy gravies can be high in calories and unhealthy fats. And so, stick to simple, mildly spicy dals and curries made from lentils, beans or vegetables.
