saudi arabiamega-city of neom has announced the opening of its “first physical showcase”, a luxury Red Sea island featuring restaurants, hotels and yachting berths. The island, known as Sindalah, was first announced in December 2022. Now, its inauguration is an important milestone for a much bigger project.
Speaking to the media, Neom Chief Executive Officer Nadmi Al-Nasr said, “Neom is committed to supporting the kingdom’s new era of luxury tourism with the opening of Sindalah.”
He added, “The achievement of this historic destination, the gateway to the Red Sea, is due to the visionary leadership of His Royal Highness Mohammed bin Salman and Saudi Vision 2030. This is a proud chapter in the NEOM story and we are excited.” To achieve our ambitious goals, with the continued support of His Royal Highness, Neom’s inaugural destination offers visitors a ‘first glimpse’ of the future for our comprehensive portfolio of destinations and developments.
Neom’s best tourist destination would be The Line, a 170-kilometre-long stretch of twin mirrored skyscrapers that stretch from the coast inland. Unveiling The Line in 2022, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman said its population would grow to more than one million by 2030, before reaching nine million by 2045.
However, Bloomberg reported earlier this year that only 300,000 people would remain on The Line by the end of the decade under a revised estimate.
Neom has been designed by sailing architecture firm, Luca Dini. The main objective of the project was to combine the natural beauty of the area with a technology-forward design and architectural theme.
