Ever paid attention to a stubborn wound that would not just be right or a mole that is changing shape? These are easy to brush as minor skin issues, but they may be initial warning signs skin cancerWhile skin cancer is one of the most common cancer worldwide, the good news is that initial detection greatly improves results.
To help you inform you, Dr. Manit Gundavada, Advisor, Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital, Orthopedic Oncology at Mumbai, share major signs that can indicate skin cancer and when you should seek therapy.

Warning signs to see

1. Non-healing wounds

Dr. Warning Gundavada, unlike slight cuts, these wounds are not naturally healed and require medical evaluation.
2. Molls that change over time
Molls are usually harmless, but changes in a new sesame or any existing should be raised red flags. Dermatologists use the ABCDE rule to identify suspected moles:
– A – Dilatory: One half of the mole does not match the other.
– B – boundary: irregular, staining, or rip -filled edges.
– C – Color: Many colors within the same mole.
– D – Vyasa: larger than 6 mm (about the size of a pencil eraser).
– E – Developed: Any change in size, shape, color or texture over time.
β€œIf you notice any of these changes, look at a dermatologist without any delay,” Dr. Gundavada recommends.
3. Persistent itching
Constant itching, tenderness, or discomfort at a particular place can exceed just one irritation. If these symptoms remain without a clear cause, they take a close look.
4. Red, crust, or crusty patches
Dr. Gundavada says, β€œSkin patches that are rough, crushed, and do not improve with moisturizer or over-the-counter treatment can be an early signs of squamous cell carcinoma.” These patch are often similar to eczema or psoriasis, but do not respond to general remedies.
5. Unusual knot or nodule
New, raised lumps that appear bright, pearls, or waxy may be a sign of basal cell carcinoma, while rough, scaly bumps can suggest squamous cell carcinoma. β€œThese often develop in the face, neck and arms such as sun-deserves,” Dr. Gundavada says.

When a doctor can help find changes in self-examination to see. If you notice any of these signals, consult a dermatologist immediately. Early stage skin cancer is highly treatable, so do not wait for the symptoms to deteriorate.

– Use a broad spectrum sunscreen (SPF 30 or higher) daily, even on cloud days.
– Limit the risk of the sun during peak hours (10 am – 4 am).

– Check the skin regularly and seek medical advice for abnormal changes.
