Here are 5 Ayurvedic remedies to deal with swelling:

According to Ayurvedic doctor Varalakshmi Yanamandra, you can easily deal with bloating by following these 5 tips.

1. Use celery powder

Ajwain, also known as carom seeds, is known for its digestive properties in Ayurveda. According to the expert, just sprinkle a pinch of celery powder on the first bite of your meal and you will be amazed to see how it prevents bloating. Why? This is because celery is a vata-balancing spice which means it can help relieve stomach cramps that come with bloating. It is also easy to digest, so you will not feel heaviness later.

2. Always choose hot food

Cold sandwiches and salads may be tempting, but if you’re suffering from bloating it’s best to stick to warm, cooked foods. Cold foods can aggravate Vata dosha, causing excess gas and bloating. According to the expert, to keep your digestive system healthy, eat warm, easily digestible food. Hot foods are easy on your digestive fire (agni), so your stomach can process them easily and make you feel light and comfortable.

3. Consume fennel water with food

Fennel water, also known as fennel water, is your best friend when it comes to dealing with swelling. All you need to do is soak some fennel seeds in warm water and drink them during your meals. According to the expert, fennel water is known for its carminative properties, which means it helps prevent gas formation and ease digestion. Fennel water is a refreshing and delicious way to add more hydration to your eating routine and keep bloating at bay.

4. Take your time with food

One of the easiest ways to avoid bloating is to eat your food slowly and chew it properly. When you rush to eat, you are more likely to swallow air, which can lead to bloating. According to the expert, taking your time and chewing each piece thoroughly can help your digestive system break down food more efficiently.

5. Practice meditation

It may come as a surprise to you but your brain and stomach are more connected than you think. Stress can easily travel from your head to your stomach, causing digestive problems like bloating. This is where meditation comes in handy. Taking a few deep abdominal breaths before eating can help calm your nervous system, preparing your digestive system for the meal. It’s all about keeping your mind and body in check to avoid digestive problems like bloating.
