Chia seeds have grown in popularity in recent years, touted as a superfood by many nutritionists and health experts. Rich in omega-3 fatty acids, fiber, antioxidants, and various micronutrients, chia seeds are often included in a variety of dishes and beverages. A popular preparation is chia water, in which chia seeds are soaked in water until they form a gel-like consistency.
Earlier, Times Now Digital spoke to Rashi Tantia, Chief Dietician, Department of Dietetics, Metro Hospital, Faridabad. She explained the potential health benefits and risks of consuming chia seed water.

Consuming chia water before bedtime can ensure that the fiber works throughout the night, promoting digestive health.
  • HydrationSoaking chia seeds in water increases your fluid intake. Staying well-hydrated is essential for overall health, and drinking chia water can contribute to your daily water intake, potentially helping maintain hydration levels throughout the night.
  • Satiety and Weight ManagementThe gel-forming properties of chia seeds contribute to a feeling of fullness. This may be especially beneficial for those trying to control their weight, as it can prevent late-night snacking and overeating.
  • Blood sugar regulationSome studies suggest that chia seeds may help control blood sugar levels. Consuming chia water before bedtime may help keep blood sugar levels stable throughout the night, reducing the risk of fluctuations.
